Island Ocean Star Sushi Now Open on Anna Maria Island

iStock_000017500846Small-675x449One of our favorite sushi places has opened a new waterfront restaurant on Anna Maria Island, Island Ocean Star, featuring gorgeous views and plenty of dock space, so you can easily boat-up, hop off and enjoy a delicious dinner.
Ocean Star has been the sushi hot spot in Holmes Beach and on the mainland in Bradenton for the past 12 years, but with their restaurant’s latest addition at Galati Marina’s renovated restaurant space  (formerly inhabited by Rotten Ralph’s), we were very excited that the freshest sushi would now be going waterfront.  The sushi is fantastic, as usual, with fresh sushi roll creations every night, but we were totally blown away by the upscale restaurant setting that features luxurious, roomy booths and a stylish layout with a large bar area, teppanyaki table and stunning views of Anna Maria’s Bimini Bay.  The restaurant has a full bar with a specialty cocktail menu featuring plenty of unique martinis.
Along with sushi and sashimi, the restaurant’s other Japanese fare is not to be missed.  The Gyoza dumplings and Vegetable Tempura are our faves, and if you’re in the mood for red meat, the New York Strip steak served teppanyaki-style is always flavorful.
The outdoor covered patio offers the perfect spot to nibble on a Bradenton Roll (Fried Scallop, Masago, Crab, Onion & Mayo) or Terra Ceia Roll (Eel, Cream Cheese, Scallion & Tempura) while enjoying uninterrupted views of “real Florida.”   The patio features plenty of ceiling fans that create a nice breeze on still evenings.  Island Ocean Star is currently only open for dinner, but we hope that they will soon add in lunch, because after a morning of boating, nothing would be nicer than hanging out on their picturesque patio while enjoying a light lunch of edamame, a couple sushi rolls and a cold Sapporo (large one, please).
Island Ocean Star is located at 902-South Bay Blvd., Anna Maria.
