The items below are the maintenance and service recommendations developed by the Yamaha Motor Corporation to keep your motor running in top condition. These services are based purely on typical and “average” use of your Yamaha outboard motor. As with any motor, if your use is higher then “normal,” consider servicing your motor more often. Frequent service often pays off through increased life and performance of your Yamaha Outboard Motor.

•    Anode: Check and replace if needed
•    Battery: Check connections, charge and water levels
•    Cables: Check for operation
•    Carburetors: Synchronize and adjust idle and mixture
•    Cylinder Heads: Torque bolts as necessary
•    Electrical System: Check for operation
•    Engine Compression: Performed on older model two-strokes, unless otherwise requested
•    Engine Fittings: Clean and lubricated
•    Engine: Clean and spray with lube
•    Fuel Filters: Replace
•    Fuel Lines: Check for leakage, splitting or rotting
•    Fuel/Water Separator: Replace
•    Gauges: Check for proper operation
•    Hours on Motor. Record on service ticket
•    Ignition Timing: Check and set, if necessary
•    Lower Unit: Inspect and change lubricant
•    Oil: Change oil and replace filter
•    Propeller: Remove, clean and lube shaft
•    Service Indicator/Alarm and reset
•    Spark Plugs: Replace
•    Thermostat: Check for operation. Additional Charge. Change every 200 hrs or two years
•    Water Pump: Replace Impeller. Additional Charge. Changed every 200 hrs or two years
•    Wet Test: All motors are wet-tested (water-tested)
•    Boat: Wash-down after service

Grady White 192 Dual Console

Grady-White’s newly reintroduced Tournament 192 is a decidedly family oriented dual console model loaded with classic looks, value and versatility.  It’s variable dead-rise hull, the Sea V2, features an 8-foot beam and a cockpit depth of 25 inches. With a top speed of 45 mph, fuel consumption of 4.6 mpg at 27 mph and a fuel tank capacity of 60 gallons, the 192 is built for a full day of fishing or just plain fun on the water.

The 192 is designed specifically to be matched to a Yamaha mid-range 4-stroke engine to provide top performance in a very affordable yet high-value package that is equally at home on lakes, rivers or inshore waters. As with all Grady-White boats, the Tournament 192 reflects their heritage of quality, safety, reliability, value and performance.

A new flush mounted radio box comes standard with an all-new instrument panel. There’s ample, easy to access storage for water toys, tackle, skis and pretty much anything else your crew may need. A true self-bailing cockpit and oversized scuppers means clean up and maintenance is a snap.

The 192’s bow features roomy seating plus a storage area on the port side and a 44-quart insulated cooler on the starboard. Grady’s trademark oversized cup holders are placed within convenient reach from every seat. The helm has comfy seating and easy-to-read backlit switches along with a heavy-duty stainless steel steering wheel. To top it all off, a Kenwood sound system with optional MP3/auxilary radio will have your onboard guests dancing on the deck.

Behind the cockpit you’ll find two jump seats, port and starboard, each with fixed backrests. All cleats are recessed and there’s a built-in swim platform with easy to grip handles and a telescoping swim ladder.

Grady-White 230

Grady-White’s brand new Fisherman 230 is the company’s tenth current center console model that includes new, well-conceived features and improved roominess that focus on a boating and fishing family’s needs. There’s an oversized aft cockpit. The bow sports a 72-quart removable cooler with cushioned top that does double duty as additional seating for two. Tucked into the console is a stand-up head and for shade they’re offering an optional T-top. The 230 clearly meets Grady-White’s goal for a model based on value, function and versatility.

A single Yamaha four-stroke engine, such as their super-efficient 250 HP V6, is a perfect match, and the 230’s wide-beam (8’6”), SeaV2 hull yields balanced stability at almost any speed and in just about any conditions.

There’s a 35-gallon, insulated live well that can be used as a cooler, a large storage box at the transom, practical helm seating and flush mounted electronics that are easily seen. In the bow, port and starboard 101-quart insulated fish boxes also double as seating and an optional insert changes the entire bow into a casting platform

The 230’s 120-gallon fuel capacity adds versatility that makes this winning inshore fishing boat as good a match offshore.

Grady-White 366

New for model year 2010 is Grady-White’s center console Canyon Series, anchored by its classy 36’ Canyon 366. Once again, Grady-White has combined astonishing design and great value in a boat that is the ultimate in center console evolution, featuring incomparable fishing functionality and the kind of creature comforts you’d expect in a much larger boat. Beamy (13’), handsome and built for performance, the 366 is the family oriented, top-value flagship of the Grady-White center console fleet.

Up to three Yamaha 350s can be mounted on the 366’s transom. Together, they’ll rocket the aerodynamic SeaV2 hull to speeds of up to 55 mph, and its 420-gallon fuel capacity will go the distance.

The centerline mounted helm seat and its two companions are protected by an aerodynamic, hardtop aluminum enclosure, including a new evolution in center console helm design where all controls are at the captain’s fingertips. An electronically operated electronics enclosure adjusts to any viewing height and weather conditions and helmsmen and passengers sit in total comfort.

Below, the lockable console boasts a roomy interior with a stand-up shower, hidden head and a galley complete with refrigerator and optional microwave oven. For entertainment, a high-quality Kenwood sound system comes ready for Sirius satellite service. The 366 will comfortably sleep two and there’s no shortage of storage for supplies, clothing, gear, tackle, water toys, and the like.

On the business side, the helm seating structure includes a bait station while aft you’ll find a 41-gallon livewell, rigging station, freshwater washdown, cooler, tackle drawers, rod holders and room for all the gear you’ll need. The bow incorporates two insulated fish boxes that double as seating and of course, easy access all around for fishermen working their catch.

No question, the 366 is the leading boat in her size range, and rightfully so. Grady-White considers the Canyon 366 the culmination of 50 years in the boat building business and is the result of literally thousands of fishing trips and untold hours listening to their customers.

Scout Boats

Scout Boats 151

Scout Boats has unveiled their all-new 151 Series, which come in Standard, Sport, Sportfish, Dorado and Hybrid models and are ideal for fishing, hunting, shrimping or simply cruising the ICW through Sarasota Bay, and beyond. The 151s are loaded with standard amenities not normally offered on similar boats in their class and provide new boat owners an affordable entry into fishing and boating, while also allowing current boating enthusiasts a platform to downsize from their current models without sacrifice.

The new Scout Boat 151s measure 14’7” in length with a stable 6’5” beam and a shallow eight-inch draft that will surely please the flats fishermen.

Matched with a single 50 hp Yamaha outboard and a 10-gallon fuel tank, the 151s are perfect for an early morning fishing expedition or an early evening chasing a sunset. Also standard on all models are a large forward storage area and three stern storage compartments.

The Sportfish Model comes with bench seating in the stern for a driver and two passengers plus a single seat forward of the center console. The Dorado Model positions the control console on the port side with a passenger console to starboard.

Scout Boats 210 XSF

Scout Boats has scored another winner with the recent introduction of their all-new, forward-seating 210 XSF, a serious fishing boat for the serious fisherman. The 210 XSF combines comfort, style and performance into their new center console model, which features a 65-gallon fuel tank and can be paired with a Yamaha 225 hp outboard. It’s 20’3” length, 8’4” beam and skinny 15-inch draft make it a perfect choice for inshore and offshore expeditions in search of a prized game fish, or just dinner.

Standard are stainless steel flush mounted rod holders and more than ample rod and tackle storage, an aerated bait well, comfortable, oversized front console lounge seat complete with armrests and a fishbox/cooler. Also standard are raw water washdown, Bay Star hydraulic steering, both port and starboard swim platforms, stern bolsters and a wave gate with a removable stern seat.

A few of the options available on the 210 XSF are four hull colors, a battery charger, leaning post backrest, a T-Top with aft spreader lights and trim tabs.

Just a short cruise from the docks of Longboat Key’s Cannons Marina here on the west coast of Florida lies an abundance of day, evening and weekend adventures. If you’re looking to enjoy a day on the beautiful and tranquil waters of Sarasota Bay, include a beach picnic in your plans. Nose your boat up to the sandbar on the east side of Greer Island (it’s really just a sand spit) on the very north end of Longboat Key; keep an eye on which way the tide is moving (Cannons will gladly provide you a local tide chart), secure your boat, spread out your blankets, slather on the sun screen and break out the grub. Grady White Boats Recognizes Cannons Marina.

As a Florida boat dealer I have always felt that the Yamaha outboard brand is superior.

Being a Yamaha five-star certified service center, we see very few issues with the Yamaha outboard motors and Yamaha parts. The word “reliability” is personified by Yamaha. Just ask any Florida fishing guide who’s fishing boat is powered by Yamaha.

Yamaha has recently completed their new state-of-the-art marine motors manufacturing plant. Yesterday I had the unique opportunity to tour the new facility. I was politely asked not to photograph the interior, so I’m unable to show you some of the more fascinating aspects of the plant. I must say, however, that I know a lot more of the product research and development, the engineering and technology brilliance that goes into EVERY single outboard motor. Yamaha outboard motors and Yamaha parts are truly the BEST outboard brand that you can invest in as a boat owner.

Here are some basic outboard motor facts:

• Yamaha understands how important product reliability is to the overall success in the outboard motor market.
• Yamaha is represented in 180 countries world-wide.
• Yamaha has 33 percent of the US market.
• Four-stoke technology is headed to be lighter and therefore more fuel-efficient.

The most significant part of the tour was the engine testing room, an enormous 17′ automated fresh-water tank testing area. Yes, Yamaha tests EVERY motor before shipping. Some of the conditions that they look for are RPM performance and noise reduction. They even expose the motors to to vibrational testing!
